Submitted Plans
The plans are for 31 high-quality new homes with 40% of these will be designated affordable. Green space is to be retained, and the plans also include
an extension to the play area for St Andrew’s C of E Primary School to provide an outdoor classroom.
Following an extensive public consultation exercise, we feel that our application reflects the views raised by the local community and our plans have been shaped by the feedback we received. Further details of the proposals can be found on the East Herts website by searching under the planning application reference: 3/25/1097/FUL.
Our proposals include:
• 31 high-quality new homes, with 40% affordable (12 homes).

• Creation of high-quality areas of open green space with enhanced pedestrian and links for leisure and access.
• A landscape-led scheme to carefully address the unique rural nature of the site and its context.
• New habitat creation securing biodiversity net gain.
• Secured Section 106 payments through infrastructure highways and education contributions.
• All homes will have electric vehicle charging points.

Housing Needs Survey
In October 2023, Hill completed a parish-wide Housing Needs Survey in accordance with the requirements of the Neighbourhood Plan and in conjunction with the Parish Council. CDA Herts supported Hill and the Parish Council to conduct this survey. CDA Herts is a country-wide charity that provides support to local communities on a range of matters, including the delivery of affordable homes in rural areas.
The aim of the survey was to give residents in Much Hadham the opportunity to provide feedback on the type of affordable homes that they would like to see delivered as part of this development. The survey also provided the opportunity for residents to comment on wider village matters that the Parish Council were keen to canvas peoples’ opinions on.
The Executive Summary is available HERE.

Summary of community engagement
In preparation of the planning application, Hill has
spent over two years engaging comprehensively
with the community, initially taking the opportunity
to understand the community of Much Hadham
ahead of beginning any design work through early
meetings with key stakeholders.
During this period, Hill also took the time to
understand the housing needs of the community by
working with Much Hadham Parish Council to
commission a Housing Needs Survey and holding
public engagement events.
The feedback received from this comprehensive
programme of engagement informed the proposals
throughout the design process, and engagement
with the community and stakeholders will continue
to take place.
